9.4.5 Threats to the non-repudiation of binding transactions may be met by appropriate levels of evidence requirements for identity registration, enrolment and authentication, supported by appropriately assured label ing and management of transactions. This may include a requirement to retain archive data. There is a requirement to establish what information should be retained and for how long. Any responsibility on the client for retention of evidence must be clearly communicated. Where evidence is required to be retained securely for an extended period, consideration must be given to the natural degradation of encryption technology over time.
