In relation to hard copy publications, in the United States it has been held that morning and afternoon editions of newspapers constitute separate publications16, as do hardback and paperback editions of a book.17 However, although the same previously published article appearing in the next edition of a monthly magazine will be a separate publication, the reprinting of a magazine edition in response to public demand does not constitute a new publication.18
